Collect your gear. Set out for Tanzania. Meet your guide. With a little determination and preparation, you can summit Kilimanjaro. The real challenge will be the altitude and rate of ascent. Most climbers reach the peak in 5-9 days, but slow and steady is key for a successful summit attempt.
Formed by three now dormant volcanoes erupting molten rock, Mount Kilimanjaro stands as the highest peak in Africa and tallest free-standing mountain in the world at 5,895m (19,340 ft). Grab your shoes and find some hills; it is time to test your mettle against the mountain.
Can you conquer Kilimanjaro, or will the mountain conquer you?
